Change vehicle names

This tutorial explains how to change car names, those that appears when you get into a vehicle.
new car name.

1. Run GXT Editor and click File>Open.
2. Go to common\text folder and select your language file.
3. Click Search>File Value (Ctrl+F).
4. Type a vehicle name, e.g. Turismo.
5. Modify the name at the right, then press TAB.
6. Click File>Save and close the program.

Vehicle installation

This tutorial explains how to install a vehicle in GTAIV. Before following the tutorial make a backup of vehicle.img, handling.dat, vehicles.ide and carcols.dat.

1. Download and extract SparkIV where you want.
2. Run SparkIV and click Open or Browse.
3. Select vehicle.img file from \pc\models\cdimages\
4. If you want to make a backup of the vehicle export its wft and wdt where you want.
5. To install the new vehicle click Import and select wft and wdt of the vehicle downloaded.
6. Click Save.
7. Close SparkIV.

SETTINGS

Usually into the archive of the car downloaded you may find a text file with some settings lines, like new colors or a new handling. To install them follow this tutorial.

1. Open readme.txt that you usually find in the mod.
2. Search for some lines like

     3.  Copy a line from readme as in screen.

     4.  Open with Notepad the file relating to the line, for example handling.dat. All settings files are located in:

          C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data\

    

     5.  Find the line to replace, delete it and paste the new one.

     6.  Save and close the file.

     7.  Repeat passage 3-4-5-6 for the other lines.

     8.  Play and enjoy.

How to install a savegame

Tools: -

This tutorial explains how to install a savegame downloaded. You can find a 100% savegame here. This tutorial can be applied only for xliveless users.

1. Be sure to have followed this tutorial (you need xliveless).
2. Download a savegame, for example this one.
3. Copy the savegame (something with this name: SGTA4**) in this directory (replace USER with your Windows username):

        Windows XP:

        C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

        Windows 7:

        C:\Users\USER\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

    4.  You can optionally rename the savegame to change the slot, e.g. SGTA412 is located in the lastest slot, SGTA400 in the first.

    5.  Running the game, it will run your savegame, to load the new one load it from the menu>Game>Load.

• load third party savegames (xliveless only)

Scripthook installation

1. Copy ScriptHook.dll and ScriptHookDotNet.asi in GTAIV main folder

          C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\

                                                      xLiveLess ASI loader installation

1. Copy xlive.dll file in GTAIV main folder:

         C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\

Important informations about xLiveLess:

1. The multiplayer is disabled.
2. The savegame folder has been moved! Follow the next steps to restore your savegames.

How to restore my savegames:

1. Follow this path (replace USER with your Windows username):

          Windows XP:

          C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_***\

          Windows 7:

          C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_***\

    2.  If you can't find this folder search in C:\ SGTA4.

    3.  Copy all the files named SGTA4** to this folder:

         Windows XP:

         C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

        Windows 7:

        C:\Users\USER\My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\

   4.  If some folders under Documents don't exist, create them.

OR

IVAsiLoader (dsound.dll) installation

1. Copy dsound.dll file in main GTAIV directory:

         C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\

Which should I choose?

You can't use xliveless and IVAsiLoader together, so you have to choose only one! We recommend xLiveLess.

Pro and con about xLiveLess (xlive.dll):

• + Asi loader included.
• + Ability to load any third-party savegames.
• - Multiplayer disabled (to prevent cheating).

Pro and con about IVAsiLoader (dsound.dll):

• + Asi loader included.
• + Multiplayer enabled.
• - Can't use third-party savegames.
